LIBRARY
The Centre has developed a well organized research Library which has a valuable collection of books and research journals of both national and international repute. Internet search and HEC Digital Library facilities are also available for the faculty and M.Phil / Ph.D scholars of the Centre. Researchers from the other institutions within and outside of the University Campus benefit as well from these facilities . Future program is to convert the present Library in to a Digital form.

The National Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry was established in July 1978 under an Act of Parliament as an autonomous body to be administered by Federal Ministry of Education through University Grants Commission, (Now Higher Education Commission, HEC).
The management of the Centre is supervised by a Board of Governors (BOG) comprising of eminent scientists and representatives of Federal Government with Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, as its Chairman.
The Centre is entrusted with the main task of establishing research facilities in Physical Chemistry leading to M.Phil and Ph.D degrees. A significant number of M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars have qualified from this institution.
The total number of Ph.D produced until year September 2016 are 97 while 213 M.Phil scholars have passed out. More than 606 research papers have been published in journals of both national and international repute since inception.
At the moment 36 Ph.D and 67 M.Phil students are enrolled. Other regular activities of the Centre include in-Service training programmes, symposia, seminars refresher courses for college teachers and so on. Collaboration in research and academic activities with a number of organizations has been developed, e.g. Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Institute of Chemistry (University of Peshawar), PINSTECH, Islamabad, Agriculture University (Peshawar), Engineering University (Peshawar), Islamia College University (Peshawar), PCSIR Laboratories (Peshawar) etc.
Research facilities are extended to all academic, research organizations as well as to industries in the area to deal with their research and industrial problems.
An research journal “Physical Chemistry ” is regularly published by the Centre. Regular weekly seminars is also an important feature of the academic activity where local speakers or Scientist from other parts of Pakistan or world deliver talks.
